What is democracy?

This course examines the classical Greek concept of democracy as the direct participation in political life. This Greek definition of democracy is then considered in terms of the trial and death of Socrates and the response of Plato to this event in the Republic. Finally, modern e-democracy is considered as a possible example of direct democracy.
